Upload speed is rubbish.

Not sure how bad this is

These are the stats for my new Broadband connection.  The upload and download speeds do not look much cop to me – but maybe there is someone out there who can give me an explanation.

Windows Live writer now gives more option I have just noticed hence the pic has rounded corners.

Microsoft IE8

I downloaded IE8 as I was hoping for a great leap forward in navigation and functionality but was very disappointed - in fact I think IE7 was just as good. 

I found no reason to move from Firefox 3.0.5 which just gets better and better and now is used by 21% of browsers. 

What did anyone else think. 

Maybe all the advantages are under the bonnet concerning past security issues.

I do however love the Windows Vista snipping tool and Windows Live Writer for blog posting.

Orange Wednesdays

I have seen these commercials for years but never taken advantage until I saw Slumdog last night.  At the head of a queue (line for our Yank readers) the cash desk lad said to me this is Orange Wednesday text yourself if you have an Orange phone - so I did and got 50% discount - why have I never done this before?

This was finally delivered today although ordered about a month ago.  I had it up and running with wifi and webmail almost instantaneously and so far I am very impressed as it cost about £100 plus VAT.

Surfs net very quickly on Firefox and with Foxmarks I synched all my bookmarks.  I had originally intended to load windows XP but think I won't now.  I can download googledocs for anything I must have on the run.  Webmail is very responsive - in all very happy with it.
